"Fuerteventura's Technological Park, key in the creation of employment "

The Economy, Industry, Commerce and Knowledge councillor, Pedro Ortega, was in the municipality of Betancuria in order to present the measure of energy saving and efficiency put in place in the municipality and went to Fuerteventura's Technological Park with the deputy councillor of Industry, Energy and Commerce, Gonzalo Piernavieja, the director of the Canarian Agency of Research, Innovation and Society of Information, Manuel Miranda. Pedro Ortega indicated that “the support the Canarian Government has given the Technological Park means that on the short term, investments can keep on creating employment in our Archipelago.

A clear example is Fuerteventura's Technological Park where 24 offices out of 66 are occupied and the occupation rate is probably going to increase over the next few months. In Fuerteventura, they have opted for a model of development of a Technological Park in Puerto del Rosario with a surface of 756.000 m2. Because of its location and characteristics, it is especially aimed at two main areas: new communication technologies and research associated with renewable energies. Pedro Ortega, Gonzalo Piernavieja and Manuel Miranda paid a visit to one of the businesses that chose to settle in the Technological Park for those reasons.

It is the business called OCEOMIC, Marine Bio and Technology S.L. The director, Iván Julio Alonso-González and manager, Verónica María Benítez, showed the progress of the company that develops, manufactures and commercialises innovative equipment for marine sciences and biotechnology by incorporating the latest innovations in their products. The councillor of Economy, Industry, Commerce and Knowledge confirmed that “there are many reasons to set up at Fuerteventura's Technological Park. Its infrastructures, the services on offer, the Economy and Tax System, its location or the climate and natural environment of the island are attractive assets for businesses”.
