Success of the Celebratory Reception in Honour of Antigua's 2019 Fiestas

Antigua's Fiestas ended last month with a Celebratory Reception on Antigua's main square with a large public, neighbours and representatives of the institutions who were welcomed by the mayor, Matías Peña, the president of Fuerteventura's Cabildo, Blas Acosta and the municipal councillors.

 

Entertaining theatre event from the Teatro Costumbristas during Antigua's Fiestas

Antigua enjoyed an entertaining theatre event from Teatro Costumbrista with artists from the village that was directed by Pepa Hernández and organised by the cultural Association El Campillo with the collaboration of the Celebrations' Council of Antigua's Ayuntamiento and Antigua's Casino. Around one hundred people enjoyed the entertainment that was interpreted by improvised actors from the village who were then rewarded by the councillor, Jonathan Peña.

The Coasts Department presents the project of the Seafront Path of El Castillo's Beach

A meeting took place in September in Caleta de Fuste's town hall at the request of Antigua's Ayuntamiento that was organised by Fuerteventura's Senator, Paloma Hernández, with the mayor, Matías Peña, municipal councillors and the Director of the Coasts' Department in the Canaries, Rafael F. López Orive. The objective of the meeting was to evaluate the project of the Seafront Path of El Castillo's Beach. The project aims at widening the path from 6 to 10 metres, adding a 2 metre-wide cycling path alongside the pathway and a green area of the same width again for public lighting and urban furniture for users.

The Caja de Canarias Foundation collaborates with Antigua to provide support for school materials

Antigua's Ayuntamiento with its Social Services' council participates in the Programme of School Social Support for 2019 of the Caja de Canarias Foundation that provides support for the acquisition of school materials for pupils of Infant, Primary and Secondary school. The support for school materials can be requested until 11th October this year and will be granted according to criteria and until the budget is spent. Amongst the selection criteria, it includes for families to have children who are currently in infant, primary or secondary school, that are likely to be in a situation of severe and urgent need of attention and without sufficient financial resources. People interested can request more information and apply by going to the Social Services Centre located at n°5 Calle Gavias, from Monday to Friday from 8:30 am until 1:30 pm or by calling 928549634/51/55, or by going to the town hall in Caleta de Fuste on Tuesdays from 08:30 am until 1:30 pm.
