WHAT HAPPENS IN YOUR MUNICIPALITY?

BETANCURIA
The Ayuntamiento of Betancuria is rebuilding the stone walls in Villa and La Vega de Río Palmas in order to gain space on the roads and public paths. The mayor, Marcelino Cerdeña, thanked the complete and selfless collaboration of the population that helped with the rebuilding of stone walls around their plots. At times, some of them even gave away part of their own space in order to widen and improve the roads or public paths. The initiative aims at renovating the traditional stone walls that have always been part of the landscape and embellish the historical area. The renovation of the stone walls will prevent the erosion of earth or small stones that invade the roads. The initiative was executed with the utmost respect concerning the rural and historical environment, using basic natural raw materials such as stone that blends in with the natural environment and the landscape.
